Materials documents record exactly which products are going into the job, from which manufacturer, with the data that shows they meet the specification. I prepare clear, manufacturer-specific materials documents in accordance with ISO 9001, Section 7.5.2, so materials can be approved during construction, their warranties are protected, and the right spares can be ordered later.

Why ISO 9001, Section 7.5.2

Section 7.5.2 of ISO 9001 covers creating and updating documented information: how documents are identified, what format they take, and how they're reviewed and approved before they're used. Materials documents prepared to it are consistently referenced, easy to check against the specification, and reviewed before they're issued.

One set of information, used twice

The data sheets and warranties gathered for materials documents are the same ones the O&M manual needs at the end of the job. Collecting them properly at the start means they don't have to be chased twice, and the O&M manual describes what was actually installed rather than what was specified.
